Wanna Take a Walk?

Updated: Oct 1, 2022

With the return of warmer weather comes longer days and being able to get out and take a 20-30 min walks with your K9 companions, I mean the benefit of these walks will favor you both greatly.

Coincidentally, taking walks together will help you and your companion lose weight, help you both de-stress, help lower your blood pressure, keeps everyone’s digestive system in check (always a good thing to have in check) and it helps reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. Going for regular walks is one of the best and easiest things you can do for both of you, not to mention it will improve both your moods and everyone around you.

Did you know that a 30 minute walk, three times per week can reduce your weight by 5% and your dogs by 15%.

Being able to get a regular walk in, can help reduce or eliminate any of your pet’s destructive chewing, digging, or scratching. Dogs are like children, if you are not giving them something to do then you may not like what they do. Walks can help reduce the pent up energy they may have, calming them down and reducing any hyperactivity, and even night time activity. More importantly it can help your pet to feel more relaxed and sleepy at bedtime.

Spending time with your dog is also extremely important - It strengthens the bond and leads to a strong, trusting relationship which helps with dog training and overall basic commands.

Frequently walks, aid your dog by surrounding them with other humans and animals alike and with you there helps to reassure and comfort them as they can learn to be comfortable around others and in turn will have you gain the confidence needed when giving a command. Remember being in control of your dog while walking can strengthen your bond and have a big impact on your dog build confidence and trust in you and themselves.
